Core Philosophy & Definitions

Influence Design

Influence Design is a strategic framework for leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) to create positive, aligned outcomes within an organization. It transcends simple automation or "nudging" by focusing on the architecture of alignment—ensuring that machine outputs actively guide human behavior toward desired goals.

  • The Goal: To move from individual cognition to collaborative intelligence, where humans and machines function as a cohesive unit.
  • The Method: Instead of forcing technology into old workflows, Influence Design uses AI to create "motionless means of interaction"—subtle, upstream adjustments that guide users without friction.

The Machineforce

The "Machineforce" represents the evolution of the workforce. It is the collection of intelligent machines, algorithms, and automated agents aligned for organizational productivity.

  • Symbiosis: In the Machineforce Era, humans and machines work harmoniously. Humans provide creativity, empathy, and strategic oversight, while the machineforce handles pattern recognition, data processing, and automation.
  • The "Artificial Hand": Similar to Adam Smith’s "Invisible Hand" of economics, the "Artificial Hand" of the machineforce processes data openly to adjust factors and influence decision-making dynamics.

The Influence Architect

A critical new role (or mindset) required to bridge the gap between technical capability and business strategy.

Responsibilities

  1. Mapping Invisible Forces: They dissect roles, workflows, and hidden nodes of influence to understand how decisions are actually made, not just how they appear on an org chart.
  2. Translation: They act as "unicorns" who speak both the language of business stakeholders and the language of technical developers.
  3. Orchestration: They ensure AI integration aligns with organizational ethics, goals, and culture.
